Fashion Duo

Top: J.Crew Keeper Chambray / Skirt: Leifsdottir Striped Jade Skirt (on sale!) / Necklace: Anthro
Shoes: Kate Spade Licorice (on sale!) / Lips: Nars / Sunnies: Super America Sunglasses

Happy Sunday All! I hope everyone is having wonderful weekend so far! Today is a special post, this is my first joint blogger post and my girlfriend Lisa recently started a fashion blog that I'm excited to share; Haute Ashbury! I've known her for about 5 years through working at Wells Fargo and I've always been a little jealous of this gal, she's always so stinking cute and well put together! Just look at her, 5 months preggers and she's as edgy as any women I know! You must head over to her blog...it's different than most since she and another fashionista, Nahal, share their looks. It's pretty refreshing to see two fashion styles appearing daily on one blog. You'll probably want to check out where she copped her items from anyway. FYI- believe it or not, that dress is not maternity!

The beauty of wearing a super colorful skirt is the ability to wear a casual top and still look stylish and dressy enough for work. I tell you, chambray is probably one of my top staple pieces! You literally can pull off any look with it! Here are a few other great chambray and printed skirt combos!

Till next time dolls!

Playing in Pleats

Top: J.Crew Merino Wool Tippi Sweater / Vest: Halogen (old, similar here) / Skirt: Banana Republic Pleated Skirt / Shoes: Shutz Slate Heels / Bag: Rebecca Minkoff 'Mini Mac' (on sale!)
Sunnies: Ray Ban 'Original Aviator' / Lips: Stila 'Beso'

Happy Friday Eve lovelies!! It's been a busy yet productive week. I got through Quarter End reporting at work...huge relief! But that only means more time to focus on new projects :-)

I wanted to spice things up a bit with today's look. My way of accomplishing this is with a sassy shoe! I normally steer away from them for the office but pairing with items on the conservative side helps tone down the overall look. My key item, a midi full pleated skirt! I picked up this beaut on sale! Hopefully sizes will last a bit before selling out. I like that it isn't fitted and if I wanted to dress it up I can easily wear with a more fitted tank or dress down by throwing on some comfy sneaks! I've seen a ton of midi skirts floating across the fashion cyber world. Here are a few that made it to my "Love It" list!

Till next time fashionistas!

Jacquard Jargon

Jacket: Trouve (similar here and here) / Top: Bebe / Skirt: Astr Textured Jacquard Skirt (on sale!)
Shoes: Steve Madden / Bag: Rebecca Minkoff

Afternoon beauts! Hope everyone is having a great start to the week thus far!!

Now that fall is in full effect it's the perfect time to break out your nude colors, textures and the year around staple...leather! My desired fabric selection from todays post is jacquard. There's something about the fabric that screams Fall! Maybe it's the dense fabric that's just enough material to offset the weather change, or the subtle texture print that's just enough to make a statement. I chose this Astr pleated jacquard skirt because of the midi length and the pretty textured print. It adds just the right touch of dressy so I can wear a simple tank or even a graphic tee and still feel glam!

And because I just love to clash different styles together, adding a leather moto jacket was a must. I purchased this jacket during the Nordstroms Anniversary sale...you may remember it from the post here! Unfortunately this particular jacket is no longer available but I found two others that look so close! One being another Trouve that's belted and has a really cool zip detail. It's definitely more moto-esk if you ask me!

See you soon beauts!

The Feature + Blogger Tips

Couldn't have done it without the photog skills of my coworker and friend Scott Kong!! Creator of Let Photo's Speak.

Hi All! Hope your week is going great thus far! Mine, such a roller coaster! If you're following me on Instagram and Facebook, you've noticed my super cheesy pose holding the latest August issue of People StyleWatch...where my look is featured in You Got It Right!! It's such a rewarding feeling considering I'm fairly new to the fashion blogging game. Seven months in counting! And as a new blogger I know how difficult it is to learn the "precise" way to get yourself out there and broadening your network to gain more exposure! This post is dedicated to sharing my tips and tricks that I've learned (and still learning!) and applied along the way. I'll start by sharing my story of how it all happened. It ALL started with a hashtag...!

People StyleWatch asks for fashionistas to hashtag their favorite stylish outfits with #yougotitright and it gets uploaded to their site. Non-Instagrammer? You can also upload a photo directly. From there they select a few each month to feature in the You Got It Right section!! For more visibility, share your upload on Facebook and Twitter and have your friends vote for your look!

Back in March, I uploaded a picture and a few weeks later, I was contacted by someone at the mag in saying I’m being “considered” for my look in the coming August issue (I know, reeeeallly?? An entire half a year later?!) So they asked me to sign a release, send the original photo and answer a few questions about “my look”. So I sent away and patiently waited, waited, and waited….and waited and didn’t hear anything back! I assumed I didn’t make the final cut. And knowing myself, no way I could follow-up and ask…I don’t know how to handle rejection!!! Fast forward to today…a girl commented on one of my pics saying, hey, I saw you in People StyleWatch. You won’t believe how fast I RAN out the office to the nearest Walgreens to raid their shelves! Flipped through with my coworker and as soon as we landed on the page…Jumping, screaming hitting, hugging!

My tips for wonderful and amazing bloggers you:

1) Try the best you can to have frequent posts (I know, I'm not the best example!), the more active you are the more likely interested fashionistas will visit again to see what's new.

2) Be active and make friends with fellow bloggers! This is so key, there's nothing like making friends with other bloggers either directly from the blog or on Instagram or Twitter. You feel more welcome to have discussions or even meet ups for blog collaborations!

3) Gain followers from other social networks, i.e. Instagram, Pinterest, etc. If you haven't already noticed, I hashtag the life out of every picture I post! These hashtags really gain tons of visibility. Have you ever clicked on a hashtag to see what else populates? Well imagine if your picture appears on 10 or more hashtags for each post. Do it!

4) Follow other bloggers and comment on their posts. I've noticed a ton of my traffic comes from other blogs. Others love to read other comments and check out the person/blogger behind it. Just make sure to leave your link beneath your comment...and comment as if you're talking to one of your best pals! You're personality shines through much more.

Hope these tips were useful for you!...Now go out and start uploading your looks to People StyleWatch!!

CONCRETE CROPS

Top: Tibi Cactus Crop Top / Skirt: Pencil skirt / Shoes: Tibi Amber sandal (old, similar here and here)

Happy Wednesday All! It's been a rough week but we are halfway to the finish line! On the bright side, the weather has been amazing lately so that definitely helps lighten the mood a bit...actually a lot! Hope your week is going great thus far!

Today I'm wearing this super fun Tibi crop top. What I like the most about it is that it isn't fitted but has a slight blousy flare to it. And the print colors are so simple and fresh for this time of year! There are multiple ways to wear a crop top, and there's a way many body types can wear it. For a girl with a few curves to share I'd wear it with a similar look to mine...a high waisted bottom. With a high waisted skirt, the crop top doesn't reveal too much especially if it has some shape. The extra structure to the top allows for just the right amount of extra coverage. For a gal with a straighter figure, a body con crop top or even with a short turtle neck would be just as cute!

This summer crop tops are taking over...here are a few that's got me smitten!

SCUBA FLARE

Top: Zara Striped Tie Shirt / Skirt: J.Crew Surf Skirt (on sale!!)  / Shoes: Nine West (old)
Handbag: Milly Crossbody Astor / Earrings: J.Crew (similar here)

Happy Monday! The weekend is over but it's not so bad since we've finally been getting summer weather! There's nothing more pleasing than waking up, looking outside and seeing the Bay Bridge free of a blanket of fog! This also makes styling a summer work look super simple!

For a work summer look, I think fun mix of colors, mix of match of fabric and trending prints. What's more classic than a stripped white and navy shirt?! Stripes are one of the most easy prints to pair for summer style! There are a number of directions you can go...for this look, I went with florals. And not just any floral, a floral flare scuba skirt! This skirt is everything! With the number of colors there isn't a color you can wear with it and go wrong. That's exactly why this skirt allows you to get away with wearing a neon yellow bag and red shoe. Even better, the length is slightly above your knee so it passes the "long enough to wear in the office" test! A few rules I go by with work fashions:

1) Fit: is there enough room in the outfit to allow you to walk and sit freely? Stay away from super fitted or hugging clothes. And if it is tight enough to see the lining of your body, layer with a long cardi or scarf.

2) Length: does the length of the shirt long enough to reach the top of the bottoms or skirt/dress go slightly above your knees. The test I like to do is stand straight with your arms on your side. The skirt or dress should go past the longest point your fingers reach. If it's slightly shorter, wear an opaque tight so there won't appear to be much skin showing.

3) Fabric: always take a good look at the complete look and make sure there is no transparency. If you can almost see the lining of your bra through your shirt, throw on a tank under. It's okay to wear a shear shirt as long as there's another top underneath.

4) Graphics: I sometimes like to wear tee's with trousers or even with jeans on casual Friday. I'd stay away from any racey images and offensive text. This could be an obvious one but you'd be surprised what I've seen in my office! Eeek!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day today and hope my little tips help you bring out your personality when putting together your summer work style! Enjoy the rest of your week loves!!

GRAPHIC FLORALS

Jacket: H&M Blazer / Top: J.Crew Foral Graphic Linen Tee / Skirt: BR (identical here and here)
Shoes: Tibi Amber Heels (similar here) / Handbag: Milly Astor / Lips: NARS Palais Royal

Is it Monday or Tuesday?? Hope everyone had a great 3-day weekend! The extra day on the weekend is JUST what I needed for a fresh start to the work week. And since I am in a slightly better mood than usual, I thought I'd have some fun to my usual office outfit. I would normally wear a collar button up or sweater with a feminine pleated skirt like this, but T's are just so much more exciting!

The key to mixing casual with dressy is selecting a fitted top so that it can easily be tucked in without any bulge. A nice colorful or vivid color print brings a simple skirt or bottom together amazingly! To add more glam to the look, a handbag with a pop of color is the way to go. Accessories are everything!! The Milly crossbody bag I've got here is one of my new favorite items. I'm more on the conservative side when it comes to colors but I am not afraid to rock this neon beaut!

I'd love to see how you fashionistas wear your T-shirts to work or on a night out. Please share!
Till next time :-)

STRIPED SILHOUETTE

Photos by: Larry Wong

Top: ASOS (old, similar here or wear as a shirt here) / Skirt: H&M Striped Skirt / Shoes: Zara Ankle Strap heel (on sale!! Love in red) / Handbag: H&M (old) / Earrings: J.Crew / Lips: Stila Guava

Hi all! Hope you are all having a wonderful week thus far! It's that busy time of the month for me so things have been pretty hectic at work! But that doesn't mean I can't take the time to dress for a night out ;-)

I found this striped skirt at H&M and I was really surprised with the quality! The fabric and design was executed very well. Warning. It's pretty short for a gal 5'7" or taller! It was a bit short for what I'm used to but didn't feel too bad since it has a flare fit. That actually is my favorite part of the skirt, it's just darling! And the heels I happened to pick up just recently in the clearance section at Zara. So if there's on in your neighborhood, I'd rush over there FAST! I love finding a good bargain, doesn't it make you feel so proud when you save yourself a few extra bucks?? This entire outfit cost me under $100 dollars. Score!

Stripes might just be my new obsession. Here are some other striped selections I've spotted.

Till next time!
XOXO
